Product Description

In a flat-shoe world dominated by one brand, the Afton Keegan Shoe is the new kid on the block. They are casually inspired, with skate shoe design roots, but elevate themselves to perform hard when rubber hits the pedal. The shoes feature durable synthetic leather uppers that protect from trail debris and the elements, and Afton's own Intact rubber sole to keep you locked on to the pedals on chunky downhills. The uppers wrap your foot up with durable synthetic leather that shields you from water and mud, and dries quickly. Venting in the toebox and lateral areas of the shoe keep cool air moving in, and sweat moving out, so your feet can stay comfortable on long rides. The toe box is reinforced with additional protection thanks to a coat of polyurethane that shields your toes from rock deflections, and trail debris. On the inside, a textile lining provides you with moisture wicking properties to pull away perspiration, and manage temperature. Enhancing comfort further is a foam insole with anti-odor properties that keep you feeling fresh, and molded support for your arch and heel that reduces force from impacts. While the uppers provide us with the coverage needed for charging all-mountain and gravity lines, we think the magic in the Keegan lies in its sole construction. Underneath the molded foam insole is a mono-directional interior shank. That's a fancy way of saying that the midsole provides flex in one direction, but not both --meaning when you put pressure on your pedals your shoe doesn't flex over the edge of the pedal, but when you hit the trail on foot it provides natural flex that your foot needs to dig in tread and climb. Outside, the sole is constructed with Afton's proprietary Intact rubber, that boasts a Shore A of 60, meaning its durable and long lasting to stand up to the rough bolts of flat pedals, but still provides some tacky grip to ensure you're not slipping around.
